How to Register to Take the GED in Dubai

register for ged in dubai
Don't wait! Turn that PC on and register for the GED in Dubai.
In a recent post, we covered where the GED test center location is in Dubai. It turns out, this is the ONLY test center in the United Arab Emirates, If you want to take the GED inside the country, you'll have to take it in Deira.
Unfortunately, one test center for the whole country means that it will be difficult to get appointments. Here's the strategy we recommend:
  • Choose 1 (and only 1) subject to prepare for and take first. If you're good at math, choose math. If you prefer to do social studies, science, or reading/writing first, that's fine too.
  • Start studying for the test.
  • Once you feel like you're ALMOST ready, follow the instructions below to register for the GED. Choose an exam date that is 2 to 4 weeks away.
  • Now that you have a deadline, step up your studying!

Quick Guide to GED Testing Policies

Before you register for the exam, there a couple of things you need to know about scheduling and taking the test:
  • Even though the GED launched a new version of the test, the one being offered in Dubai is the 2002 Series GED Test.
  • The exam has 5 parts that are tested separately. It costs $50 (AED 183.50) to take each test. You need a credit card to register for the exam.
  • Have your passport with you when you register online. If the name on your passport and the name you registered with don't MATCH EXACTLY, they will not let you into the test and you won't get your money back.
  • You can reschedule or cancel your test up to 24 hours before the test date by calling, 0044 161-855-7440.
  • If you reschedule or cancel your test less than 24 before the test date, you lose the money.
  • If you don't score a 450 on the exam, you have 90 days before you can take the exam again. In the past, you had to take ALL 5 GED tests BEFORE you could retake any one exam.
For more info on GED test policies, take a look at the GED Jurisdictional International Testing Policies.

GED Test Center Location

GED test Dubai
Testing is offered at only one location in Dubai: the Society of Engineers in Deira. Check out our very detailed post that provides the exact location, phone number, Google map, and directions by metro and car or taxi of the GED testing center in Dubai.

To create an account and register for the GED in Dubai

  1. Go to https://ged.com/ and create an account under "New to Ged?"
  2. Enter your name, date of birth, and mailing address. Since your GED transcripts will be sent to this address, you MUST enter your PO Box. If you don't have one, enter the PO Box of your employer or your parent's employer and put that person's name in Mailing Address 1. For Zip/Postal Code, enter 99999.
  3. Click Yes to agree to the GED Terms & Conditions.
  4. Enter your primary phone number. Be sure to include the country code. Click Continue.
  5. Under Where Do You Plan to Take the GED?, select Other Countries then International in the drop down menu.
  6. For Are You Currently Enrolled in High School?, answer yes or no. Click Continue.
  7. Under Test Method, click no. Click Continue.
  8. Unless you have a disability, ADHD, impaired vision, or some other issue that would affect your ability to take the test under standard conditions, click no. Click Continue.
  9. Now you're in the main GED Dashboard. In the middle of the page there is a big yellow button that reads Start Scheduling. Click Start Scheduling.
  10. Click the highest grade you completed in high school, the year you completed your highest grade, and why you did not complete school. Click Continue.
  11. Select your current work status and your total personal income over the past 12 months (in US dollars). You can put anything here because this information is just for their research. Click Continue.
  12. Click yes or no for if you studied to take the GED. Click Continue.
  13. Select your main reason for taking the GED and the main factor that convinced you to take the GED. Click Continue.
  14. Check your name and birth date shown on the screen. This MUST match your passport EXACTLY.
  15. On the next page, don't enter anything for your social security number. Answer the rest of the questions and check the box of the Terms & Conditions. Click Continue.
  16. Now you're in the Test Scheduling System. Click Next.
  17. Check that the exam you see is GEDTS: 2002 Series GED Test. Click Schedule This Exam.
  18. Check the tests that you want to take. We recommend taking the tests one at a time. This makes your preparation easier.
  19. On the next screen, select yes and click next.
  20. In the Test Center Search box, put Dubai, United Arab Emirates. (The mailing address you enter won't give a search result.)
  21. Select Society of Engineers if you live in Dubai. Currently, this is the ONLY GED test center listed for the UAE. Click next.
  22. Select your preferred date on the calendar. Available appointments will automatically display. Choose one.
  23. Double check that all of the information is correct then click Proceed to Checkout.
  24. Check again that your name matches your passport EXACTLY (even down to dashes -).  If it doesn't, they won't let you take the exam and you won't get your money back. Click next.
  25. Check that you agree to the test center policies and click next.
  26. Enter your credit card details and your billing address if it is different from your mailing address. Click next.
  27. If your order is correct, click next or ok.
  28. Now you should see a receipt page confirming that you registered for the GED. Print or PDF this page! You should bring it with you when you take the test. They will email you a confirmation but we have had students in the past who didn't get one and then had a hard time trying to follow up with their test.
If you need more help, check out the GED's Test Scheduling PDF.

You're registered for the GED. Now it's time to finish studying!

Hi Habiba,

The GED test center in Deira, Dubai is the only GED test center in the UAE.

If you're coming from Abu Dhabi, be sure to schedule your test for the afternoon so you don't have to deal with traffic or being tired.

Good luck,
Eden

I would like to do the GED test in June. I am a mature student and will need tome prep. Please advise if you offer prep classes for these test. Also if you have any past papers for practice to see which are the weak areas to focus the tuition on.

Thank you,

Helen

Hi Shaharyar,

This is a little complicated. To unlock your account, call 1-877-EXAM-GED. It's an international number so you'll be charged for the call.

You could also try creating a new account with a different email address and registering that way.
